My Vernon Family Tree
I have traced my Vernon family tree in the Peak District back to over 500 years ago, to Richard Vernon of Hazlebadge, esquire. He was the progenitor of the Vernons of Tideswell and later Chapel-en-le-Frith, Peak Forest and Sparrowpit. As such, all Vernons living in these areas in later centuries can trace their ancestry back to him.
Richard was a younger son of Sir William Vernon of Haddon Hall, and from him our ancestry can be traced back through the senior line of Vernons of Haddon Hall, to the 13th century and beyond.
I have provided an account of each generation of my Vernon family from my most recent Vernon ancestors in the 19th century, back to this Sir William Vernon of Haddon Hall, detailing the sources which have informed my research along the way.
