Vernons in the Parish Register of St John the Baptist, Tideswell, Derbyshire, 1635-1841
Note: The Vernons in the Tideswell parish registers are thought to be the descendants of Richard Vernon esquire of Hazlebadge (d. 1523) through his son Richard Vernon esquire the younger and grandson George Vernon, gentleman of Tideswell. George had a son Francis, whose son Francis is known to have moved to Ford in Chapel-en-le-Frith and then Sparrowpit in Peak Forest. George also had at least four younger children, and it is reasonable to assume that the Vernons in the Tideswell parish register in the 17th century are these children and their descendants. This branch of the family appears to have died out.
