Francis Vernon, gentleman of Tideswell, Derbyshire, b. c1542
Francis Vernon, gentleman of Tideswell, was born around 1542. His mother, Margery Revell, had previously been married to Phillip Bullock who had died in 1540, and she had certainly married Francis's father George Vernon, gentleman of Tideswell by 1544, when she and George are sued by her son from her first marriage, William Bullock, over the retention of deeds of the Bullock house in Tideswell known as Nutcombe.
Francis's father George had died by 1586, and Francis had married Grace by this time; all are mentioned in a document detailing the sale of property at Ford in Chapel-en-le-Frith by Francis. Francis went on to convey more of his estate at Ford to Anthony Creswell in 1596.
It is not clear whether he conveyed all of his share of Ford to Anthony Creswell, as in 1626 his son Francis Vernon was resident at Ford. In 1629, another relative, perhaps another son, George Vernon, died there.
Francis Vernon presumably died in or near Tideswell, unless he made the move to Ford at Chapel-en-le-Frith with his sons. If his death occurred before 1620, as is likely, it would not appear in the Chapel-en-le-Frith registers.
